The coolest thing happened today. But first let me start with a little background. Back in June I had sent a “Wanted: Digital Camera” post to Vancouver FreeCycle and received a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P73 which worked fine except for the flash. What I really liked about this camera was its ability to take video with sound, and I’d been using it to post church testimonies and such on YouTube. Recently the…

Many people have asked me about techniques for coping more effectively with stress.
Although I send some of them for counseling or psychotherapy when symptoms are severe, most are looking for practical ways to manage stress on their own. They want to take responsibility for handling their own problems observing their inadequate methods of dealing with stress, learning new techniques to improve their habits, and then practicing these techniques on a regular basis. (or you may want more…

Hello! I suffer from random attacks of depression. HOW annoying they are. I am going about my day and suddenly out of nowhere a depression will hit. I then find myself watching tv and eating something bad for me.
Here are the top ten things that help me, that might help you, when I sense a depression coming (or even when I am just lonely):
1. dancing wildly to funk music. (jamiroquoi works really well)
2. If I start to cry when it is unnecessary, I make a farting noise with my mouth. Then I s…

During an anxiety attack, you're mind automatically scans the environment to look for the culprit as a way of protecting you from future threats. Often times, your mind pairs the anxiety attack with things or events that are completely unrelated to the onset of your anxiety. External cues get paired with the initial anxiety attack, and can provoke subsequent attacks (You can try

Do you believe in karma? When this question is out, most human beings will link this together with Hinduism and Buddhism. (Hinduism and Buddhism) The effects of a person's actions that determine his destiny in his next incarnation. Because of this, lots of most of the human beings thinks that karma is just some religion talking, it doesn't relate to our real life. The fact is, if we are thin, it does not mean that we are entirely healthy. After I read the statement for the first time, I thought that it is impossible to achieve physical, mental and social well-being at the same time, so every single human on earth is not healthy. In my mind, this is unachievable, this is "bullshit".
Lots of people today today think that I always exercise, therefore, I am very healthy and grateful! Is this true?
After a while, I finally understand the stat…

Large number of people today think that I'm thin, therefore, I am very healthy. Lots of peole think in that way?
The fact is, if we are thin, it does not mean that we are entirely healthy. According to World Health Organisation (WHO), health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. After I read the statement for the first time, I thought that it is impossible to achieve physical, mental and social well-being at the…

My Mom couldn’t stand to have a question and not have the answer to it. Our small farm house had two sets of encyclopedias when I was growing up. We couldn’t afford the World Book from the salesman that came by, but my resourceful father found a Funk and Wagnall’s set at a garage sale. It was the subject of many jokes on Laugh-In, but in our household it was a prized possession The set was only 5 years old and had fairly recent information. Through the years, we acquired a used set of Encycloped…

I think this is my rebirth, for according to me rebirth is when one misses a lifetime of misery in the nick of time. This near miss can be a result of a number of factors, internal and external. But when we trusts God or some superpower and are in trouble (read “deep shit”) i firmly believe that the entire universe conspires to keep you safe and happy. I agree it’s better to follow your instincts, but sometimes one is blinded by short term happiness and fails to see the larger picture. And in th…

Most people think of volunteering as joining a group of people at a certain place and a certain time to perform actions that benefit others. These days, there seems to be alot more that you can do to help others from within your own home - even whilst still dressed in your own pyjamas!
This to me is a mindset change as I think people aren't even aware that you can help charities / worthy causes beyond your own doorstep. Almost everybody I know has no idea about these micro volunteer opportuniti…
